There is this kind of sadness which you have in you and which doesn't discourage you from laughing and living your life, from meeting friends, from going to school and going to work . But it is there, sometimes hidden, sometimes not. And you are not really sure about the origin or since how long it is there in you. But it is there, always, and it seems like it will never disappear. And sometimes you even cry at night in bed and suddenly you feel all alone, although you have your family, your friends. And you feel like your situation is futile, but at the same time you also hope, hope for something, for someone, anything that could erase all this sadness inside of you, and of which you get aware of when you are alone, while taking the bus, the tram, the underground, or while you just take a walk. All quiet moments remind you of this sadness, but then something nice happens, as just a good talk with someone, and everything seems to be forgotten and you think how you could ever thought that you are sad, because life is beautiful and you are full of hope and confidence. This goes on for some time, but the next being-up-all-night is waiting for you, and again you'll have so much time to think about life and aims and yourself, and there it is again, the sadness, which you had almost forgotten, but which was always there. So you go into bed, shed one or two tears and fall asleep. The next morning you wake up and maybe you are hopeful, that by the end of the day it could be that you are not disappointed of life, of yourself. And so the circle of Hope and Disappointment begins and closes.
Here is a great example of that distortion I was talking about with short focal length lenses. Great image, lots of emotion, even lighting, perfect focus, but her nose appears enlarged because it is closer to the camera than the rest of her face. I look at this same model in your image, Soft, and her features are more balanced. I am no expert by any means and dont claim to be better than anyone but I am enjoying our conversations and hope to learn from you as well.
Not only is this an excellent pensive portrait, but the writing on sadness is so true. I was taken from the first sentence, perhaps because we all carry that mysterious sadness to some degree. And perhaps that is why we like such portraits as the Mona Lisa...and this photograph.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
